Hi, my name is Merit and I’m a 2nd-year PhD candidate in the Department of Arts and Culture Studies at ESHCC (EUR). My PhD topic is Digital Heritage; more specifically, I’m interested in how digital technologies and digital media are changing curatorial and heritage-making processes, including dynamics between “traditional experts” and “amateur experts”. For example, in my first study, I am exploring how (artist-)curators select, evaluate, and give meaning to memes, which are increasingly entering museums, collections, biennials, etc. since the early 2010s.
